In the fall of 2024 I gained some weight after a wonderful cruise to Alaska, a road trip through New England, followed by Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.  I was heavier than I'd been in many years and found that the weight was VERY slow to move. So discouraging!  Between getting older and the chocolate croissants on the cruise ... and the ice cream in New England! Well ... the last 5 of those pounds just wouldn't BUDGE.

I was happy to discover Dr. Mandell's (10.5 million subscribers on Youtube has to mean something?) morning drink to lose five stubborn pounds.  The cayenne pepper increases metabolism naturally!  The rice water has all kinds of good stuff.  Somehow or another, the scale finally started moving and those five pounds, that had been so non-negotiable for months, came off in about 6 weeks.  I discovered that I slept better too. 

So, here is his morning drink that he calls "Rice-Zempic."  You can follow his explanation HERE.

I tweaked it a bit and do NOT use green tea. Instead, I added fresh ginger. 

Carolyn's Rice-Zempic Morning Drink
 
10-12 ounces of boiling hot water in a big mug
2 Tbsp. of rice
1 to 2 " piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1 heaping tsp. of Ceylon cinnamon
Few dashes of cayenne pepper
Juice of 1 lemon or lime
Drizzle of honey

Add all ingredients to the boiling water in a big mug or cup.  Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes to steep, then strain and drink slowly.    (I actually skip the straining step as it all mixes, then the uncooked rice settles into the bottom.).

YES! It has a strong taste and takes a little getting used to, but it worked for me ... along with eating better, lots of water and exercising more.

I found that I SLEPT better too!
